How I Deal With Fake YouTube Copyright Claims by Believe Music

“YouTube channel dedicated to search, catalog, sort and publish free music for commercial purposes, destined to content creators and filmmakers. (It) Has over 900 free songs, sorted by artist, musical genre and mood”.

…My band had the copyright on our YouTube videos claimed by Believe Music, who I found out had monetised every video of music from our 1980s album (all original compositions with all rights owned by the band)…When I challenged the bogus YouTube claims, Believe Music challenged this and Google threatened me with a Copyright Strike!!

It was a bit of a battle but I eventually managed… to persuade Google…that we were the legal copyright holders…We never got any of the money they had earned from their fraudulent monetisation of our material, and never had any acknowledgement of our complaint to Google…

Believe Music certainly is a copyright troll. They made claim against NASA content, very public domain, that I posted on YouTube.

Like the other trolls, they take what they can get away with taking. I have fought other similar claims, and you should too, when they take what isn’t theirs to take.

“Oh it’s complicated (read — I’m too dumb to understand the intricacies of music licensing), maybe they’re victims themselves, maybe someone stole the free music then sold it to Believe yada, yada, yada. This is a real company with real people working there, so you should email them politely and explain the situation etc.”

Hey guys. About the copyright claim everyone is receiving. The claim is not coming from me. I am the owner of the song and since it came out is under CC License but every now and then some fake companies claiming my songs with no rights. It happened to many musicians. Hopefully it will be gone soon!
